Job Description 

PRODUCTION ENGINEER

Location: Mobile, AL

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Start Date: ASAP

 

GENERAL PURPOSE: This position works with and provides assistance and guidance to Methylmethacrylate and Methacrylic acid plant production, management and maintenance to ensure safe, consistent, reliable and profitable operations

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor plant activities to ensure safe operation
  • Train and inform employees on the safe plant operations
  • Assist in maintaining open communications with plant personnel to ensure continuity of safe, efficient operation
  • Implement small capital projects as project manager
  • Support engineering for larger capital projects
  • Support plant design, construction and start-up for improvement projects
  • Monitor process and implement changes for improved yield(s), on-stream time and quality
  • Track and report ongoing production KPIs
  • Assist in establishing and administering facility safety and environmental programs

 

STRATEGIC FOCUS: (The focus desired and expected on the position over the next 1-3 years)

This position should have a primary focus on safe production.   Using previously developed reporting tools (OEE), the individual will be responsible for tracking and reporting productivity on an ongoing basis.   This role will also understand any reasons for potential loss and initiate improvements to minimize loss and improve output.. 

  • Maintain and improve plant performance in the areas of safety, operations, maintenance, reliability, quality and environmental compliance
  • Identify root causes of issues identified from the tracking and reporting function
  • Implement solutions and improvements to plant production issues.
  • Maintain plant compliance with RC and ISO certifications
  • Ensure plant procedures and instructions are valid and current

 

NATURE & SCOPE:

The majority of the incumbent’s time will be performing standard engineering assignments, usually managing routine maintenance and projects for a specific production unit.  The incumbent participates as a team member in production to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations.  This individual works within the basic system established when the plant was constructed. 

The incumbent must have an understanding of engineering support to and work flow with production units and the maintenance functions.  This position has developed an understanding of initiating plans, and supporting production to assure quality maintenance and timely execution of projects.  This role will require communication within and between groups and individuals involved (process engineering, operations, maintenance, management, etc.)  

 

Requirements:

-  Previous experience working in production plant required.

-  Team oriented

-  Strong communication skills (written/verbal) required.

-  BS/MS in Engineering, Chemical or Mechanical

-  Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
