Description

PRIMARY TASK

 

The primary function of this position is to greet and seat guests, present featured products, take customer orders and to deliver prepared meals, beverages and desserts to guests in the dining area in a professional, timely and friendly manner ensuring safety regulations and quality standards are maintained and that customer satisfaction is achieved.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Check daily schedule and dining room section assignment, inspect workstation, verify supplies and prepare for operations.
  • Stock the station with napkins, condiments, dishware, glassware, utensils, to-go supplies, set-up trashcans, sanitizers and bus pans.
  • Make coffee, ice tea, fill juice machine, ice bins, soup, syrup warmer, stock salad unit, creamers and clean service aisle as required.
  • Check dining area for highchairs, booster seats, available tables and clean, floor, booth, table, chairs and set tables as required.
  • Meet and greet adult guests and children at the hostess stand in a professional, timely, attentive and friendly manner.
  • Determine customers needs and desires, accommodate them to the best of your ability and according to seating rotation as appropriate
  • Place guests’ name, number in party, time of arrival, estimated wait time and special info on the wait list as appropriate.
  • Escort the guests to the table, keep eye contact and engage them in conversation to make them feel comfortable and welcome.
  • Inspect table upon arrival, correct non-conforming issues, pull out chairs and wait for them to be seated.
  • Open menus and place one in front of each guest, present featured items, explain menu items, make recommendations, address and answer question regarding ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Take guest food and beverage orders accurately, write clearly on guest check, verify order with guests and enter into computer or present to appropriate kitchen personnel as required.
  • Prepare and deliver beverages (soft drinks, fountain drinks, coffee, etc) accessories or condiments requested or required for the meal.
  • Deliver and present the prepared meals, appetizers, soups, salads, sides, desserts and / or beverage re-fills in the appropriate sequence and in a professional, timely and friendly manner.
  • Monitor the guests, be alert to potential problems, address issues and concerns whenever needed and according to company policy.
  • Bus, clean and reset tables, keep in contact with guests and accommodate requests (re-fills, to-go containers, etc.) as needed.
  • Be alert to guest status in dining area, present guest checks at appropriate time and collect cash / credit cards as quickly as possible.
  • Cash-out guest in a timely manner, thank the departing guests for their patronage and invite them back for another visit.
  • Assist with take-out customers, re-stock take-out and fountain supplies, load and  empty dishwasher, clean outside areas as required.
  • At the end of the shift breakdown and re-stock section and cash-out with manger and complete all necessary paperwork.

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • High School Diploma / GED preferred.
  • Food Service background / experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent people skills.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended period of time.
  • Must know safety information regarding all materials used within the scope of the work.
