The Charlotte Observer is one of 32 daily newspapers owned and operated as part of the McClatchy Newspaper organization, a worldwide communications company. The Charlotte Observer has a daily circulation of around 205,000 and Sunday circulation of around 260,000 reaching throughout the Carolinas. The Observer also produces other publications including Mecklenburg Neighbors, University City Magazine, CareerBuilder, SouthPark Magazine, and Carolina Bride.

In addition to the newspaper, The Observer is also a force on the Internet with Charlotte.Com, as well as cutting edge sites including the RealCities Network, Apartments.com and That's Racin' NASCAR site.

The Observer is a stable company with a long history in the Carolinas. The company was originally founded in 1886, and from 1959 through 1985 published both The Charlotte News and The Charlotte Observer.
