Advanced Home Care was established in 1993 with the merger of Home Care of Central Carolina and Advanced Services. These two organizations began as separate companies in the late 1980’s. This merger was in response to the growing number of requests from referral sources for consolidated services. The result of this merger was the creation of one of the largest, most comprehensive and technologically advanced home health care organizations in North Carolina – Advanced Home Care.

The roots of Advanced Services and Home Care of Central Carolina go back to 1983 when Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and Wesley Long Community Hospital formed a joint venture to address the growing need for home health services in Guilford and surrounding counties in North Carolina. High Point Regional Health System joined the venture in 1986. In 1994, Forsyth Memorial Hospital (a member of Novant Health) became a partner in Advanced Services. In 1998, Presbyterian Health System and Mission St. Joseph’s Health System merged their existing infusion programs into Advanced Services. Most recently, Haywood Regional Medical Center and WestCare Health System joined the venture.

In the summer of 2003, Advanced Home Care took a significant step in its first purchase of a home medical equipment company through the acquisition of First Health of the Carolinas’ HME operations, based in Pinehurst, NC. Advanced Home Care accomplished another milestone in December 2004 through the purchase of a Virginia based home care equipment company with the acquisition of Carilion Health System’s home medical equipment operations based in Roanoke, VA. This was Advanced Home Care’s first venture outside the State of North Carolina. Also, in December 2004, Advanced Home Care purchased Craven Regional Medical Supply in New Bern, North Carolina, and began to operate it as a satellite to our operation in Greenville, NC.

In March of 2005, Advanced Home Care expanded its home health services within North Carolina through the merger of three home health agencies into Home Care of Central Carolina. These home health agencies were Forsyth Memorial Home Care in Winston Salem, NC; Home Care Providers in Burlington, NC; and Presbyterian Home Care in Charlotte, NC.

The affiliation with these outstanding integrated delivery systems has driven Advance Home Care to become an industry leader in the development of leading-edge programs and clinical pathways, implementing programs and processes that are both cost-effective and patient focused. Advanced Home Care also has been very proactive in the collection of data for the purpose of measuring clinical outcomes, as well as patient satisfaction with services provided. Outcome studies have been conducted both independently and in conjunction with hospital databases in order to obtain the most comprehensive and inclusive information.
