Yum! Restaurants International (YRI), based in Dallas, Texas, is the largest division of Yum! Brands with nearly 11,000 restaurants outside the U.S. (excluding Yum! China Division). In 2004, YRI achieved record revenues of $2.1 billion, operating profits of $337 million and a continued high level of return on invested capital.
One of Yum! Brands' four key business strategies is to drive profitable international growth. 2004 was the fifth straight year that YRI (excluding Yum! China Division) has opened more than 700 new restaurants outside the U.S. We've achieved this growth while more than doubling our operating profits since Yum! Brands became a public company in 1997.

We have strong local teams around the world, operate in over 100 countries with established supply chains and have nearly 600 international franchisees. Our franchise and joint venture partners are driving growth by opening more than 85 percent of our new international restaurants.

We continue to show the power of our global portfolio of leading restaurant brands, including KFC and Pizza Hut, fueled by continued profitable international expansion. Our international business is one of the key factors that makes us truly unique in the restaurant industry.
