Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation (AWAC) operates as the largest privately held regional airline in the United States. Founded in 1965, AWAC schedules nearly 500 departures per day system-wide to 27 states and two Canadian provinces. With service to approximately 70 cities throughout North America, AWAC carries nearly 6 million passengers per year.
AWAC works in partnership with US Airways, United Airlines. In addition to the flying services AWAC provides while operating 70 CRJ regional jets as US Airways Express, the airline is also a ground-handler for United Express in their Washington Dulles International hub and 20 other cities throughout the country.
The Foundation of Our Future
Safety. At AWAC, the safety of our customers, crews and coworkers matters most. Every employee takes responsibility for promoting safety in all aspects of his/her work. Our safety record is exemplary and we continuously look for ways to enhance our safety programs.
Smart Choices. We take pride in striving to build a stable airline within an industry that’s traditionally filled with highs and lows. Rather than focusing on the fast dollar, we focus on our future. We evaluate the risks and the benefits of every business opportunity and take the time to make decisions that support the long-term interests of AWAC and its people.
Superior Service. AWAC employees are courteous, respectful and helpful to both customers and coworkers. By supporting one another through teamwork, we create a company people want to work for and do business with.
Air Wisconsin Airlines has been a proud presence in the regional airline industry since 1965. Originally founded to provide service between Appleton, WI and Chicago, IL, the airline quickly grew beyond these borders and began providing service to multiple destinations.
The airline was a pioneer in code sharing, a mechanism that allowed it to form a marketing partnership with United Airlines. That relationship, together with mergers of Mississippi Valley Airlines and Aspen Airways in 1985 and 1991, respectively, helped make the airline the largest regional carrier in the United States at that time.
In 1993 private investors purchased the airline. Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation (AWAC), while continuing to operate as United Express, developed a route network that stretched from Colorado to the eastern seaboard. Built on a foundation of exceptional quality and reliability, AWAC prides itself on its record for safety, smart choices and superior service.
