The mission of Wishard Health Services is to advocate, care, teach and serve, with special emphasis on the vulnerable populations of Marion County, Indiana.
Wishard Health Services will enhance continuously our ability to meet the needs of the underserved and all people of Marion County, will be sound economically, and will lead innovatively in clinical care, research, education, and service excellence.
Wishard Health Services offers a generous benefits package for employees. The following is a summary of the benefits offered:
- Medical, dental, and vision plans are part of the core benefits offered to employees. A designated medical plan for those 18 and older who are inter-financially connected to the employee, not limited to domestic partners, is also available. An incentive for non-smoking employees is included in the medical benefits.
- Group term life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment coverage is offered at one (1) times the employee’s annual earnings at no cost to the employee. Optional life insurance is also available, up to four (4) times the employee’s annual earnings ($300,000 maximum).
- Dependent life insurance coverage is available at a low cost to employees.
- Free short-term disability insurance (60% of wages) is available for 90 days without pre-existing conditions. There is a two-week eligibility period required.
- Voluntary coverage is also available for long-term disability (40% or 60%), auto, home, and pet health insurance discounts, pre-paid legal/identity theft protection, deferred compensation 457 (b), supplemental disability, and flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent expenses.
- An employer-funded retirement plan through the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) is provided. Employees become members on the first day of employment. The plan includes an employee annuity (paid by Wishard) and a defined benefit pension plan. Employees not eligible for benefits who transfer to positions with benefits will begin participation in PERF immediately.
Wishard Health Services believes that employees should have opportunities to enjoy time away from work to help balance their lives. In addition, Wishard recognizes that employees have diverse needs for time off from work. For this reason, Wishard has established Paid Time Off (PTO) to benefit eligible employees.
PTO is accrued each pay period. The accruals listed below are based upon paid hours up to 2080 hours per year.
Non-exempt employees 184 hours (23 days)
Exempt employees and market staff 224 hours (28 days)
Vice presidents, department directors and physicians 264 hours (33 days)
Other available benefits include a tuition reimbursement program, participation in the State’s Central Indiana Commuter Service, affiliation with all Indiana credit unions, on-site mail room, employee discounts in the cafeteria, free smoking-cessation classes for employees and family members, wellness initiatives, discounts at health clubs, and participation with the PerksCard Discount program for national and local vendors. To further support our employees and assist them with their work-life balance, Wishard has an Employee Assistance Program for our staff and their family members.
