Growth Horizons

Overview
We believe:
  • All people have the right and ability to make choices regarding the direction of their own lives.
  • All people deserve the opportunity to form relationships within the community.
  • All people have the right to take risks and learn through life experiences.
  • All people deserve to be treated as individuals with respect, dignity, courtesy and equality regardless of ability.
Growth Horizons Inc contracts with Salisbury Management Inc to provide administrative services. Growth Horizons has several other business partners that provide specialized services to individuals with mental illness, individuals with Autism, individuals who are deaf and have mental illness /intellectual disability, and individuals with complex medical needs.
Culture

We believe that meaningful work is the most therapeutic activity of all. We are committed to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (also referred to as cognitive disabilities or mental retardation) find and keep meaningful work. Whenever possible, work should occur in competitive environments where people with disabilities work alongside their non-disabled counterparts and compete with them for jobs. Sheltered workshops are a viable alternative for some individuals with disabilities when competitive employment is not possible. Many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, however, do not enjoy working in workshops. In these cases, meaningful volunteer work activities may be their best option. Our mobile volunteer work teams within each of our adult divisions provide these volunteer opportunities.

Career Opportunities
We are looking for qualified individuals who enjoy making a positive difference in the lives of others. The Direct Support Staff(DSS) is an entry level, direct care position assisting and working with adults who have developmental disabilities in one of our group homes located throughout Montgomery and Bucks County.
Residential Services
Growth Horizons provides residential services and supports to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live in and become active members of their community. Our goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to support individuals to become as independent as possible. Over time, we strive to remain flexible in supporting each individual as the needs of the individual and his/her life circumstances change. We also support self-determination through Person Centered Planning and attempt to incorporate choice into all aspects of life for the people we support.

We provide services and supports in agency-owned or rented homes, apartments, and individual-owned homes. There are usually three to four individuals per agency-operated home, although in some cases, one or two individuals may live in an apartment or home. The size of the home depends on individual needs, desires, interests, and medical and behavioral support needs.

Over the last several years, many of the people we support have transitioned from young adulthood into older adulthood, resulting in an increased number of chronic health problems. This in turn results in more complex support needs for these individuals as well as increased training and support needs for the staff working in these homes. To ensure the best quality of health care, we incorporate medical oversight and technical assistance into our residential programs on an as needed basis through licensed registered nursing staff.
