Hospice

At Kettle Brook Care Center, we recognize the extra comfort and care that people need as they move toward the end of life. This process can be painful for the residents, their families and friends. It is with this understanding that our staff, working hand-in-hand with Hospice organizations, provide services in a warm, caring environment. The nursing team makes every effort to provide each individual physical, social and spiritual comfort during this time of need.

What is Hospice?

Hospice is care provided for persons whose death is anticipated within six months. The focus of hospice care is on quality of life, not the quantity of days remaining.

Types of Hospice

There are numerous types of Hospice services available, including respite hospice and routine hospice. Respite hospice is a five-day stay in a skilled nursing facility available to provide a rest for the caregiver(s). Routine hospice is for persons who wish to have their hospice care inside a health care facility. Kettle Brook participates in both of these services.

Respite Care

Respite care is designed to give the caregiver a rest from providing care to a loved one in the home. This service allows caregivers to place someone in a skilled nursing facility for up to 30 days per calendar year. This period of time can occur at the same time or incrementally. While staying at Kettle Brook for respite care, the team will again strive to make that time as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for the residents and families.
