The Modesto Bee
The Modesto Bee employs over 650 people from all over our community and is delivered to homes from Ripon to Merced, Patterson to Sonora. All of those people do very important jobs, in departments such as:
The Publisher. Margaret Randazzo, publisher and president of The Bee, oversees all of the daily operations and long-range planning of The Bee. You can write to her at email@example.com.
The Newsroom. Reporters, photographers, editors and page designers work through the day and night to report on news from our neighborhoods, our state and our world.
Advertising. Every day Modesto Bee salespeople hit the streets working with local businesses to get their word out to our readers through advertising.
Subscriber Services. You may take it for granted, but hundreds of people work every morning to make sure the Modesto Bee arrives on your doorstep each and every day.
Operations. Operations staff keeps the building running, build and print our pages, run the press and maintain the grounds.
Human Resources. If you want to work at The Bee, or if you already do, the Human Resources staff will work with you to make your experience at The Bee as productive and enjoyable as possible.
Marketing. All of the work we do isn't properly appreciated if you don't hear about it. Marketing staff makes sure that all of the great things The Bee does are known to the public.
Finance. Every dollar that comes in or goes out of The Bee has to be accounted for, and the finance staff make sure that they are.
Online Services. We are the coolest cats in the galaxy, and we produce Modbee.com.
Benefits may vary for employees covered by collective bargaining agreements ** The Modesto Bee offers an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, EAP, flexible spending accounts, and more. Holidays & vacation days: Full-time employees receive seven paid holidays, a birthday holiday, a diversity day and also accrue three weeks of vacation annually. Employees accrue four weeks of vacation, after five years of service have been completed. Retirement/Investment Plans: the McClatchy pension plan offers excellent retirement benefits with vesting after five years of credited service. The 401 (k) plan allows employees to invest up to 25% of their weekly income. The company will match up to 4% of the first 6% you contribute on a pre-tax basis. McClatchy stock is also available at a 15% discount through bi-weekly payroll deductions.

The Bee is printed on a full-color Goss Flexoliner press, which produces crisp color photos and high impact, full-color ads. The water-based ink used on our flexo press does not rub off on our readers' hands.

We offer paid internships in our Editorial department for copy editing, reporting and photography. The standard internship runs 10 weeks. Starting times vary, but they usually begin in late spring or early summer. Interns in the Sports department, however, sometimes begin in the fall - usually October.
Intern applicants should send a cover letter, resume, at least five work samples and three professional references. Applications must be postmarked no later than November 30.
