Dungarvin is a national organization of privately owned companies that are dedicated to providing high quality, community-based supports to people with developmental disabilities. Founded in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1975, Dungarvin has grown to serve approximately 1,906 people in 12 states.
Dungarvin provides a variety of individually tailored services and supports under the Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver. Additionally, Dungarvin provides services in several small homes licensed as Intermediate Care Facilities/Mental Retardation (ICF/MR) in Indiana. We also provide day services, supported employment, case management, supported foster care, children's services, respite care, and supports for traumatic brain injury services in several states. Dungarvin provides quality services that are flexible and responsive to individual needs and choices, while maintaining the fiscal integrity that ensures the long-term stability and security every person expects and deserves.
MISSION:
Dungarvin's mission is…
…respecting and responding to the choices of people with developmental disabilities.
We believe each person has his or her own set of aspirations, goals, strengths, and dreams. We work closely with each person, and people close to the individual to discover and understand this unique combination. Utilizing our experience and expertise, we design and provide a constellation of services to support the person in achieving his or her life goals.
Dungarvin understands each person's need for autonomy and self-determination. Where barriers exist, we believe a responsive service provider must work creatively to change limiting environments and promote the individual's decision-making power. We believe each person should be fully included in his or her community. Each person must have access to the community's resources and benefits, including the socially valued roles of being a citizen, neighbor, worker, and friend. Above all, we believe each person has a right to control his or her own life and destiny.
Dungarvin supports the philosophy of supported living and self-determination. The focus of our services is to enhance the individual's independence and maximize the quality of life.
Specific services and supports that are offered to the individual are determined by his or her personal strengths, preferences, interests, desires and goals. The range of particular services and supports Dungarvin offers is comprehensive in order to meet the needs and preferences of each person.

On March 17, Dungarvin's founders, Tim and Diane Madden, announced changes in the company's executive management team, to be effective May 1, 2006. Here is an excerpt from a letter to Dungarvin's customers, from current President and CEO, Tim Madden:
Thirty years ago, Dungarvin opened our first residential program in Saint Paul, serving 15 adults who had previously lived in Minnesota’s state hospital system. My wife, Diane, and I were the “houseparents” for that first residence; through the efforts of many dedicated personnel, we have grown to serve more than 1900 people across 12 states. We are proud of the accomplishments of Dungarvin, and every member of our team. It has been our privilege to contribute to the development of community-based supports for people with disabilities.
We expect the Dungarvin organization will continue to thrive and grow for another 30 years. However, for Diane and myself, the time has come to make a change in our day-to-day leadership of the company. Interests in spending more time with our own maturing family and exploring other endeavors require a transfer of some of our duties to other very capable people at Dungarvin. Effective May 1, 2006, we will be relinquishing our roles as President and Vice President. We will continue to be actively involved in Dungarvin as members of the Board of Directors, and as shareholders.
Diane and I are able to transition our roles because we have a strong and experienced senior management team, ready to accept additional responsibilities and challenges. I am pleased to announce the following management changes, also effective May 1, 2006:
· Dave Toeniskoetter has accepted the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, and will join the Board of Directors. Dave has served Dungarvin for 26 years, most recently as General Counsel, Secretary, and Treasurer.
· Mike Holmes has accepted the position of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mike has served Dungarvin for 13 years, most recently as National Director of Operations.
· Joe Regenscheid has accepted the position of Secretary, Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer. Joe has served Dungarvin for 11 years, most recently as Corporate Controller.
One thing that won’t change is the services Dungarvin provides to our customers. We will continue to strive to provide the highest quality of services, and honor our mission of “Respecting and responding to the choices of people with developmental disabilities.”
Thank you for the confidence you’ve placed in Dungarvin as a provider. We expect to continue to earn your confidence.
