Advance Medical is currently assisting numerous pharmaceutical (includes biotechnology) and medical equipment companies expand their current sales forces, in addition to fully staffing sales forces for new product launches. Advance Medical is a leader in staffing within both the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries.
We have openings in both rural and metropolitan areas. While many positions require some previous experience there are also positions available for people with no prior experience.
The pharmaceutical positions have a starting salary of between $45,000 and $70,000. Average bonus and commission adds an additional $20,000 to $30,000. All representatives are supplied with a company car, full benefits, stock options and an expense account. Most new hires are offered three to four weeks vacation in their initial year of employment.
The medical equipment positions may be in any of the three areas within the industry. You will promote equipment within any of the following divisions: medical device sales, disposable goods or capital equipment. Compensation is a combination of salary and commission. Most first-year representatives earn between $100,000 and $200,000. Company car (or car allowance), full benefits, and expense account are provided. Some of the companies provide stock options to new hires.
All candidates should possess strong communication skills, demonstrate an ability to quickly learn new information and be able to verbally communicate a pattern of success.
We will conduct a pre-interview with you prior to your actual interview with the hiring company. We will present you with a few of the same questions you will be asked in your actual company interview. Candidates that can easily supply adequate answers to these questions will be the first to be placed in an interview with the hiring company.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What age groups are companies looking for?
Companies now hire from all age groups. Some companies target people just out of college while others prefer older candidates. Companies, ideally, prefer their sales forces are comprised of people of varied ages and backgrounds. What is the pre-interview process?
One week prior to a phone interview with Advance Medical we will contact you via phone and/or email to inform you of the company and product line you will be responsible for. We expect you to learn some basic knowledge about both. We will ask you a series of questions that are the same as those that will be posed to you in your initial company interview.
The people who are the most proficient at these tasks will be the first to be placed in a position to gain a job offer. You can use that one week to prepare. Can you define the various positions? We will expand on this in your pre-interview, but here is a brief explanation.
Pharmaceutical representatives call on a combination of family physicians and specialists to promote very popular medications.
A specialty pharmaceutical representative calls on specialists to promote a drug.
A disposable goods representative calls on hospitals and promotes gowns, gloves, lab equipment and chemicals. Any goods that are “disposable”.
A surgical equipment representative promotes equipment used in an operating room.
A capital goods representative promotes major equipment, such as MRI’s, bone scan machines and X-Ray equipment.
This can be the best long-term position in the industry. Many representatives average $500,000 annually after five years.
A biotechnology representative generally calls on pharmaceutical companies to promote a biotech development. Do I need a science background? Up until ten years ago you did, but companies have since learned that a person’s verbal skills are the most important component of a successful representative. They prefer to teach you the science portion utilizing their own teaching methods. Remember, you only have to learn a narrow parameter of science that is applicable to the product you are promoting.
