We will conduct our business affairs in an ethical and financially prudent manner through employee development, involvement and empowerment, while demonstrating compassion to our members and setting a standard for all others to achieve.
Products
Coventry Health Care offers a wide variety or products to meet the varied needs of our members, including:

  • Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) were once easily defined as organizations that provided health care to voluntarily enrolled members in return for a pre-determined, pre-paid amount of money on a per member basis.

  • Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO) are managed care plans that allow members to see providers either within an established network or outside of it. Members pay a reduced fee for choosing a provider within the network because those providers have agreed to provide services at a discounted fee.

  • Point Of Service (POS) managed cared plans are those where members do not have to choose how to receive services until they need them. Members may see any provider and do not have a primary care physician. If the provider is not in the plan, members share in the higher cost of treatment.

  • Medicare is a government-managed program that provides health care for older Americans. Because the government mandates certain coverage and imposes many restrictions and filing requirements, CHC and its subsidiaries have developed special programs available only to Medicare beneficiaries.

  • Medicaid is also a government-managed program; however, it covers those Americans who are unable to pay for their own health care treatment. Each state has its own requirements for receiving benefits. Some require participants to join HMOs, others do not. CHC has also developed special programs for Medicaid beneficiaries.
Traditional Indemnity plans are those where the insured individual receive care from a provider of their choice. There are no referrals and no primary care physician. These plans tend to be more expensive for patients as well as health plans because providers are paid full fees for services provided, not negotiated discounted rates.
