Driver Training
Now that you've decided to get into one of the fastest growing and most in demand occupations in the country, there are just a few more things you should know. First, double check your driving record. Make sure you are able to identify all of your previous licenses in other states and that you remember to list any previous DUI's, accidents, or other moving violations on a company job application. Most trucking companies today will check not only your references and job history, but will also check Motor Vehicle Records which list all of your previous driving history, commercially or not. Trucking companies will also many times check credit history as well as drug and criminal history.
So be up front and honest when applying for a driving job, or any job for that matter.
Also, before getting into school, make sure they have asked you which state you plan on residing in while attending school and working. Some states allow for third party testing, which permits the school to do the actual testing for the state. However, if you are going to live in another state than where you attended school, that state might not allow for the third party testing and/or the test might be totally different from that which you studied in school.
