Norton Healthcare is the Louisville area’s leading hospital and health care system (45 percent market share) and third largest private employer (more than 9,300 employees).

The not-for-profit system – the largest in Kentucky and rated one of the top 100 integrated health care delivery systems in the country – includes five hospitals; seven Norton Immediate Care Centers; and one Norton Orthopaedic, Hand & Injury urgent care center. An eighth Norton Immediate Care Center will open in eastern Jefferson County at Old Brownsboro Crossing in summer 2006.

Norton Healthcare has nearly 2,000 total physicians on its medical staff, and employs more than 200 primary care and specialty care medical providers at offices and locations throughout the community. Norton Healthcare’s services include Norton Heart Care, Norton Cancer Care, Norton Orthopaedic Care, Norton Women’s Pavilion, Norton Stroke Care and pediatrics. In 2005, Norton facilities recorded nearly 61,000 inpatient admissions, more than 305,000 outpatient visits, and nearly 182,000 emergency department visits.
