Durham School Services

Overview

Durham School Services can trace its history back to 1917, to a three-bus company started in the San Gabriel Valley of California. In its early years, Durham specialized in special education transportation. This specialization has helped to nurture a unique commitment to quality service that is still maintained throughout our company today.

Today, the company operates more than 12,800 school buses and serves more than 300 school districts in 29 states across the country. Our corporate offices, located in Downers Grove and Warrenville, Illinois; house the administrative and support functions for the company, and our local customer service centers (CSCs) are supported by regional operations teams located throughout the country. As a national company, we have a wealth of resources available to our customers, and still maintain an unmatched level of local support.

Durham School Services has a strong record of success and decades of experience in pupil transportation. With the support of National Express Group, a global leader in transportation, we are confident we can provide exceptional service to your district. We will remain continually focused on delivering our service promise: Getting kids to school safe, on time, and ready to learn . . . every day.

Culture

We live and breathe to accomplish one thing—getting our students to school safe, on time and ready to learn, every day. This focus applies to all facets of our service, including:

  • Regular home-to-school service
  • Service for special-needs students
  • Field-trip service
  • Summer school and camp service
  • Charter trips

Because we got our start serving special-needs students, and have developed extensive expertise in this area, we are uniquely qualified to serve all children with special care. In fact, the level of caring and attention to safety so crucial in transporting special-needs students, and the extreme attention that must be paid to service quality, all determine how Durham operates each day.
