Location: Charlotte, NC or Cazenovia, NY or Harrisburg, PA USA Reports To: Service Group Manager Primary Functions: The Web/GIS Developer has the project role which includes, but is not limited to, the following: » Design, develop and support innovative applications for the web, mobile and GIS environment. » Participate in all phases of the system development life cycle, including requirements, analysis, design, development, testing and deployment. » Proficient with web development languages and tools. » Good understanding of enterprise software architecture. Qualifications: » BS (MS Preferred) in Computer Science or related field. » 3+ yrs experience (5-10 preferred) with application development. » Experience documenting functional requirements. » Demonstrated success designing and coding within a mainstream dynamic oriented programming platform like C++, python, ruby, Java, Adobe Flex or Flashbuilder, or VB.NET. » Familiarity developing on a mobile platform like Android or Apple iOS. Desired Skills and Knowledge: » Experience with the ESRI (9.3/10.x) suite of tools including ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Mobile. » Development of spatial web services like ArcGIS Server SOAP/REST and Open Source WMS Services » Knowledge of ArcGIS Server features like dynamic and cached map services, geoprocessing services, feature services, REST API, locators, etc. or » Knowledge of desktop GIS environments and developing desktop applications, geoprocessing tasks, bulk data loading/validation routines, etc. » Knowledge developing open source web-based map viewers and mapping tools » Experience working with enterprise database environments like SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle. » Experience working with enterprise spatial database environments like ArcSDE, SQL Server Spatial or Oracle Spatial. » Experience documenting functional requirements. » Able to work independently and in a team environment. » Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. » Self-motivated, able to work with limited supervision. » Willing to learn new technologies. » Well organized, able to simultaneously manage several disparate jobs over varying timescales and maintain required schedules. » Adaptable, able to comprehend and implement new or infrequently performed methods with limited specific training and practice.
