Job DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, the primary function of the position is to organize services across provider lines, between people and systems, to effect optimal patient outcomes, achieve continuity and quality of care and reduce cost. To ensure ED processes flow efficiently and communicate any variables to appropriate directors. To perform inpatient Case Manager duties as assigned to include for the development, planning, coordination, and administration of functions including activities such as Utilization Review, Discharge Planning, Social Services, and Resource Management including daily review of medical records to determine appropriateness and medical necessity of admissions, continued hospital stay, and use of ancillary services.
Job REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Experience:
- Three to five years medical – surgical experiences or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous ED experience a plus.
- Knowledge of InterQual criteria preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: - Must be licensed by the state of South Carolina.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA).
Other:
Will be required to be ON CALL. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and ale to function effectively under stress. Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive relationship in the department and within other departments. Must have critical thinking skills and be able to comprehend the entire issue before taking action or making a decision.
