 Description General Summary

 

This position will be part of the Maintenance team at White Wave Foods COI facility and also a member of management process improvement team, and will be responsible for the line efficiency ramp-up curves, production changeovers, and other focus improvement needs. Be able to show strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and provide clear direction in a food manufacturing environment. Also, follows all safety procedures as stated in GMP, safety standards, plant rules, and code of ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Analyzes, identifies, recommends, and implements solutions for reducing production downtime, and non-value added activities.
  2. Identifies and implements productivity enhancement opportunities.
  3. Develops, conducts, and coordinates training plans for plant mechanics.
  4. Acts as a subject matter expert on controls hardware and software.
  5. Works with PIT (Process Improvement Teams) to resolve controls issues. Also, works with Lead mechanics by utilizing FI (Focused Improvements) tools.
  6. Leads and facilitates SRC (Simple Root Causes), and assists in the development of the capitol plan for cost reduction-related projects to support business objectives.
  7. Leads participation to review and improve plant wide cost savings and TLE (True Line Efficiencies).
  8. Coaches and guides maintenance team within assigned area of responsibilities.
  9. Follows all safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics.
  10. Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

a)      Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, schedules, ingredients, recipes, safety procedures, emergency procedures, chemicals labels, graphs, charts, reports, and computer monitors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate specific information using verbal and simple hand signals to team members, leads, supervisors, in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to conduct meetings with team members, supervisors.

b)      Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to read, and interpret data from charts, graphs, and instruments, and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to identify any digressions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  .

c)       Reasoning Abilities:

  • Ability to troubleshoot multiple problems with controls/ instrumentation that arise i.e. pressure transmitters, RTD’s I to P devices.
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to work with others, including subordinates and supervisors, to complete regulatory duties.
    • Ability time-manage themselves.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
      • Ability to strategically think in terms of process improvement.
      • Able to think quickly on their feet, especially in emergency situations.
      • Ability to be on call and or go on line to trouble shoot issues.

d)      Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge in Allen-Bradley (control logix, SLC500, PLC5) and Siemens PLC family.
  • Proficient with HMI, AC/DC VFD drives, and motion control programming
  • AutoCAD and Wonderware experience is preferred

 

  • Knows all the safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics and follows them strictly at all time with a food processing plant.

e)      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Allen-Bradley certifications or others

 
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 10-15 years field. Will substitute degree with 5-10 more years of experience in a food processing plant.
  • Experience in PLC programming, and ladder logic trouble shooting and ethernet.
  • Experience with strong knowledge of operation in Direct and Indirect pasteurization, i.e. VTIS Tetra
