Description

Principal Purpose: Assisting in carrying out the processing of benefits, 401(k), reporting and other functions of the Human Resources department.

 

Reports To:   Human Resources Manager

 

FLSA Status:  Non-exempt

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Set up files and process benefits for overhead employees

·        Process termination of benefits in HRB and generate COBRA events 

·        Verify COBRA and manually enter as needed

·        Mail out insurance reminders

·        Assist in planning and carrying out yearly open enrollment

·        Calculate insurance refunds for terminated employees

·        Track and prepare weekly benefits adjustments and submit to payroll department

·        Post contributions to 401(k)

·        Review 401(k) distribution requests and refer for final approval

·        Prepare 401(k) interim census testing & year end census for TPA

·        Prepare information for the year end 401(k) audit for the auditors

·        Work closely with TPA to process 401(k) loan requests and resolve issues

·        Report all “First Injury Reports" via carrier website & maintain WC injury files

·        Assist with information needed for Work Comp audit

·        Track EEO & Veteran information for current year. Help prepare the annual government reports

·        Respond to verification of employment requests

·        Run reports as needed for Human Resources and CFO

Requirements

 

Knowledge Required

Strong knowledge of benefits applications

Intermediated HR compliance knowledge needed

Intermediate knowledge of 401(k) plans and applications

 

Skills Required

Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Intermediate data entry skills

Letter composition skills

Abilities Required

Must be able to maintain strict confidence of departmental information

Must be detail oriented

Must be able to communicate effectively through verbal and written methods

Must be able to work with limited supervision

Must maintain a pleasant, approachable and professional demeanor

Must be able to prioritize and multi-task

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED

Two years experience in an HR department, preferably within the staffing industry

Physical Requirements

Must be able to communicate with peers, contract employees, customers, vendors, etc.

Must be able to do maneuvering of materials, as would be encountered in an office environment

Must be able to maneuver from desk to files, copier, etc.

Must be able to work at a computer

Work Environment

Primarily in air conditioned/heated office environment

Occasional visits to branches, seminars, clients, and corporate events
