Description

Senior Package Design Engineer

The Sr. Package Design Engineer will be responsible for creating structural box samples to assist Sales Representatives in sales promotions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


 

  • Pro-actively participates in discussing design projects with sales representatives, customers, outside vendors and other departments

  • Responsible for design structures and may order tooling compatible with machine specifications
      • Make samples on CAD table

  • Record keeping and filing of specifications. Assure up-to-date information regarding printing info and CAD specs is loaded into the system so production personnel are accessing the correct data.
  • Work with sales staff/customers on redesign and cost savings projects.
  • Make production specifications from proto-type.
          • Responsible and coordination of all new design concepts, revisions, samples, mock-ups in structural design of corrugated and folding carton products.

              •  Preparation of specifications for tooling and production specifications.

            • Ensures design can be manufactured to client's machine capabilities
            • Creative / existing design.
            • Provide CAD System design input, interface with manufacturing, customer service, and sales.
            • Assist as needed in testing various products and does related work as required.
  • Works closely with Product Project manager to assist in strategic development of departmental goals.
  • Responsible in assisting and developmental goals of Production Designer
  • Serves as a liason and back up to Product Project Manager
  • Other duties are assigned.

 


 

SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES
                                                                                                                        

Supervises Production Designer is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of planning and scheduling functions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Education and/or Experience:    

  • Must have an Associates Degree and/or equivalent experience / combined education
  • 5 to 10 years professional experience, or 3 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree.  


 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents.

  • Must have excellent communications skills and posses the ability to respond to common inquires or complaints form customers, regulatory agencies, or members of top management.

  • Bilingual Spanish preferred


 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the following:

 

  • Artois is a MUST
  • Database software
  • Internet software
  • Microsoft office products (work, excel, outlook & PowerPoint)
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • TOPS
  • Solid works and various other manufacturing engineering software including process simulation software.

 

Reasoning ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
