Job requirement: Supports safety and environmental aspects for transmission maintenance and capital construction (eg: electrical safety, lock-out tag-out, confined space, fall protection, trenching & shoring, hoisting & rigging, fall protection, construction safety, inland wetlands, endangered species, SF6 gas, SPCC, contaminated soil management, soil & erosion control, etc.).Performs field support and inspections at substations, overhead & underground locations and at construction projects. Provides safety and environmental advice and assistance to all organizational units of transmission. Serves as an advisor and consultant to functional department. Represents the Transmission Group on safety and environmental incident and root cause evaluations. Reviews proposed construction methods, practices, and projects for conformance with accepted safety and environmental standards.Recommends, coordinates, and reviews with functional management employee educational & work practice programs on safety and environmental topics (eg: procedures, work practices, training modules). Develops and presents educational programs and information to employees and contractors.Promotes teamwork among and between all members in his/her jurisdiction and other internal groups. Thorough knowledge of safety and environmental regulations. Experience in electric generation, distribution or transmission preferred. Experience in contractor construction safety required.Technical Skills: Working knowledge of: EPA, CTDEP, MADEP, NHDES & ACOE regulations. Knowledge of power system operations. Ability to plan and develop effective programs and methods in safety and environmental areas
