Position Summary:
The Assistant General Manager will be assigned the responsibility for one or more departmental functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, conducting performance reviews, controlling all costs and projects assigned. The Assistant General Manager has full responsibility for the daily operations of a single unit Quaker Steak & Lube location. Effective management of people as reflected in turnover and team member relations, exceeding sales expectations and achieving profit over budgetary expectations are primary tantamount to the success of this position. The major accountability of the Assistant General Manager is to continuously focus on meeting and exceeding guests’ expectations with exceptional food, beverage and service as a primary goal.
Good managers know how to get things done and done right. They don’t always do the work themselves, instead they rely on the skills of their staff. Assistant General Managers are to assign responsibilities and then provide the inspiration and motivation to help the staff achieve its goals – great guest satisfaction!
Responsibilities:
Hires, orients, trains, supervises, and motivates all staff as needed.
Effectively manages employee-relations issues, including fair utilization of correction action measures where necessary.
Teaches all team members clear expectations of conduct and service.
Manages salary/wage administration and controls labor to effectively manage costs, including food, beverage and labor costs.
Trains and cross trains subordinate managers for advancement.
Establishes and maintains good business and community relations.
Implements local merchandising and promotional programs.
Develops sales techniques to increase guest counts and check averages.
Assure the store is operating to Quaker Steak & Lube’s® expectations with regard to operational processes and procedures.
Implements strategies to assure 100% guest satisfaction.
Maintains procedures for cost, waste, and quality control.
Directs safety program for accident prevention and manages team member and guest injury/illness reporting.
Directs security program to ensure protection of cash, products, equipment and team members’ property.
Effectively manage all benefit programs.
Implements strategies to exceed budgetary expectations with regard to sales and operational costs.
Respond to all guest comments promptly and respectfully.
Coordinates all maintenance issues with regional manager and local service providers.
Monitors housekeeping and sanitation standards.
Follows proper cash handling and guest check procedures.
Is capable of performing every function in the restaurant so as to properly supervise all of those functions.
Effectively communicates with everyone, from the restaurant owner to the managers on duty and other team members, to guests, to vendors, and to Quaker Steak & Lube Franchising Corporation representatives.
Ensures adherence to policies and procedures, setting the standard for excellence in the restaurant.
Is responsible for building store sales and is accountable for profit and loss.
Oversees scheduling of entire staff.
Schedules management and delegates tasks to be completed.
Arranges for services as necessary to make repairs and properly maintain the facility and grounds.
Arranges for preventive maintenance or repair on restaurant equipment as necessary.
Oversees all bookkeeping and banking.
Conducts regular departmental meetings.
Ensures the security of the restaurant and team members during opening and closing, and when receiving deliveries.
Monitors inventory and prepares orders as necessary and spot audits inventories.
Conducts team member performance reviews.
Develops management and staff.
Maintains the POS system.
Monitors quality of food and maintains high standards of guest service.
Incorporates daily promotions
Qualifications & Standards:
Compiles special event and holiday recaps.
Strong culinary aptitude from work and/or educational experiences.
Strong adherence to designated specs, recipes and procedures.
Must be highly self-motivated, organized and able to handle multiple priorities while meeting firm deadlines.
Must be able to work in a collaborative work environment, effectively as part of a team of professionals.
Must be able to operate under minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail.
Must conduct self in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
Must be flexible at times, exhibiting an ability to adapt to change when required.
Good interpersonal communication skills, including effective presentations and product demonstrations.
Exercises team work with other staff.
Abides by Quaker Steak & Lube’s® standards, policies and procedures and safety rules at all times.
Reports to work on time, well groomed and properly attired.
Conducts self in a professional and respectful manner towards guests, fellow associates and management at all times.
Maintains confidentiality of all trade secrets, keeping all recipes, policies and procedures confidential.
All other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Some college in Hotel & Restaurant or Business.
Experience: 2-4 years of Assistant General Manager experience required. Past history should include operating high-volume sales in excess of $3 million plus.
PC Software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Aloha training will be required.
