Informatica / EDI Administrator 3

Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Informatica / EDI Administrator 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position will be located in Raleigh, NC.

Work with the technology you need to succeed...  The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Postal Services and Solutions Division, which is a 11 year, multi-million dollar program, responsible for providing end-to-end IT services such as application development, business data management, and enterprise infrastructure support to the United States Postal Service. 

The Data Transport Services (DTS) unit of Business Data Management (BDM), United States Postal Service, provides remote production management and application administration services in support of Postal business applications.

This responsibility covers direct support of the Informatica v.8 tools and could include supporting the Oracle databases itself. This includes but is not necessarily limited to backup, recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, coordinating changes to production databases, and problem resolution.

It may also include capacity planning, software version control, implementation, space allocation and management, migration, performance monitoring and tuning, problem resolution.  These services are extended to the Informatica product sets, the EDI Application Sets, and the USPS approved system data delivery and monitoring solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

       •  Provide production support for multiple Informatica databases ranging in size from 100GB to multiple terabytes of data. In this position you will join a team of approximately 5-10 DBAs responsible for ensuring corporate data warehouse availability on a 24x7 basis.  You may also be responsible for providing monitoring and troubleshooting support for the EDI system. 
       •  Monitor the execution of Data Transport job streams, both Informatica and EDI.  Recognize abnormal performance or completion events.  Diagnose, resolve, or escalate identified problems related to Informatica PowerCenter v.8, and Oracle, running in either a Windows or Unix environment; EDI components including Messageway and Axway running in a UNIX environment, per established Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements.  Solve a variety of production issues related to Informatica PowerCenter v.8, Messageway and Axway.
       •  Document End-of-Shift Status (accomplishments or completions, and outstanding or pending jobs or issues) for in-coming staff.
       •  Utilize Informatica PowerCenter v.8 (Workflow Monitor, Workflow Manager, Workflow Designer, Repository Manager, and Repository Server Administration Console) to schedule and control workflows, import/update mappings and tasks, and security.
       •  Utilize and configure automated monitoring solutions for DTS service areas in order to minimize downtime and reduce manual efforts.  Install and configure appropriate DTS workstation software running under Windows 2000.
       •  Provide technical and operational support for remote applications to meet client service level requirements.  This includes but is not necessarily limited to backup, recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, and coordinating changes to production databases.  It may also include capacity planning, software version control, implementation, space allocation and management, migration, standards identification and compliance, fault tolerance planning, new product/release evaluation and support.  As well as, maintaining the physical data environment of the production data warehouse.
       •  Implement data warehouse schema and appropriate indexing techniques (bit map, B-tree, hashed, and others) and making necessary adjustments to the evolving data structures and implementing security features (views, user profiles, roles and grants).
       •  Perform other duties in support of the BDM/DTS mission as directed by BDM/DTS Management.



Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
       •  Bachelors degree or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
       •  Ability to work Mon - Fri: 3 pm-12 am
       •  7+ years related work experience
       •  Broad experience in data warehouse and decision support systems implementation.  Experience with data quality, data engineering, and data standardization.
       •  1-5 years experience using Informatica PowerCenter v.8 (Workflow Monitor, Workflow Manager, Repository Manager, and Repository Server Administration Console) to schedule and control workflows, import/update mappings and tasks, and security.  Extensive experience in error handling and problem resolution. Specific hands-on experience with workflow monitor strongly desired.
       •  1 year as Unix systems administrator and scripting (PERL) experience.
       •  Individuals must be able to evaluate, plan, manage, track, and provide status reports on system maintenance and support activities at a task level.  Individual may be required to be available for work at times other than their assigned shift should production systems require immediate support.
       •  Ability to prioritize, multi-task.
       •  Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team
       •  Ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite of products in the performance of assigned duties and office automation requirements.  Products include Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Project.
       •  Ability to utilize a workstation configured with MS Windows 2000, or Windows NT Workstation.
       •  Good oral and written communications skills; good interpersonal skills.
       •  Excellent analytical skills
       •  Quick learner and adaptive to new and challenging technological environments.
       •  Willingness to work additional hours or a nonstandard shift to meet operational and business needs.
       •  Must be able to obtain a Postal Sensitive Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
       •  1-5 years experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).  Experience with Messageway and Axway products for EDI processing is desired.
       •  3-5 years of database of Oracle DBA experience in either a development or production environment desired.
       •  BA/BS in Computer Science, Business, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, Math, or related field and 9 years of overall IT experience
       •  Must be able to obtain a Postal Sensitive Clearance
