Job Description:
Job Description - The position requires a responsible, self motivated, well organized individual with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while adapting quickly to rapidly changing priorities. Also, this position requires the ability to work well with both peers and customers under pressure and deadlines. The candidate should be highly proficient with a thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows Installer Technology such as Native MSI Packaging, Application repackaging, Standard and Custom Actions, Conditions, Transforms, Patches, Upgrades, Administrative installs, Wise Package Studio, VB Script, and WMI.

Responsibilities:
· Package and distribution of software and Windows Security Patches/Hotfixes using SMS 2003.
· Creating Microsoft Installer (.msi) packages and Microsoft Transforms (.mst) using Wise Package Studio, software repositories, Orca, and VBScript (not using repackaging or setup/capture utilities)
· Ensure requested tasks meet all applicable SLAs while providing world-class service. Accept and resolve all ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) requests within established SLA timeframes.
· Support the organization?s continuous improvement of Desktop Systems Mgmt solutions.
· Monitor appropriate ticketing system queue(s) for new requests.
·  Monitor SMS package distribution and execution status and report when required or as requested.
· Provides rapid response to regional and enterprise issues
· Provide technical support to the Project Planning and Implementation Teams
· Work under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Possess a customer/user-focused attitude.
· Interface with team members, clients, customers, and vendors.
· Provide technical expertise in a variety of areas.



Job Requirements

Candidate should have working knowledge of:

  • Deploying and testing highly complex installation packages for functionality, compliance, quality assurance, integration, and user acceptance, verifying that the MSI is operating correctly to install, uninstall, and repair an application and ensuring there are no DLL/registry conflicts or ICE errors in the MSI packages
  • Advanced Windows OS installation, configuration and troubleshooting
  • SMS Server 2003 (1+yrs)
  • Experience in implementing and supporting SMS based desktop management infrastructures for large complex organizations

Technical Skill Set:

 

  • Must have extensive Wyse Package Studio experience
  • Must have excellent documentation skills
  • Regmon and Filemon experience would be helpful
  • Knowledge of Health Care applications is a plus
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic scripting
  • Extensive MSI experience (3-5 years a plus)
  • Active Directory understanding
  • Experience with working with the Microsoft Toolkit
  • Good people skills
  • Ability to work with others
  • SMS 2003 experience is required
  • Must have understanding of how software operates

  • Knowledge of software "best practices"

  • Knowledge of silent installs and switches

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with windows registry and file system

  • Installshield / AdminStudio actual experience

  • Experience with ORCA and transforms

  • Able to understand VB scripts, and custom actions

  • Must be able to "think outside the box" and have some latitude of creativity while still keeping with set best practices

  • Thorough and detail oriented / adheres to standards

  • Familiar with VMWare

  • Familiar with process monitor / user permissions

  • Knowledge of limitations with limited users in Windows XP

  • Novell / Console One v1.3.6f knowledge and experience.

  •  Zen object creation for Novell 3.2 & 7.
