Position Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Market Development Manager for the Healthcare – Patient Identification & Safety sector.  This individual will be a key messenger of the market and leader within the Healthcare business unit, and will strive to help optimize our business at a product portfolio level over the product lifecycle.  Efforts will  focus on driving revenue and earnings growth in the sector by identifying and driving new opportunities, creating new market specific solutions, establishing partnerships and channel relationships, or identifying emerging segments.

This person will manage our current patient wristband and related portfolio and will be tasked with growing, expanding the portfolio.  New product innovation (and associated business planning and execution) that solves real market problems is an essential outcome of the work from this individual.

The Market Development Manager is responsible for the market analysis, quantitative analysis, portfolio strategy, and product planning and roadmap of his/her assigned portfolio.  This also involves, planning and execution of the overall go to market strategy for the sector, solution delivery; sales and marketing alignment; customer satisfaction; and planning the revenue and profit forecast.  The Market Development Manager must be able to mobilize company resources and energize cross functional teams to achieve success.

Essential Functions:

The Market Development Manager is expected to:

1.       Discover and validate market problems (both existing and future customers)

2.       Seek new market opportunities by leveraging the company’s distinctive competence

3.       Define and size market segments

4.       Create and maintain the business plan including pricing

5.       Determine the optimum distribution strategy

6.       Determine buy/build/partner decisions

7.       Define the sector strategy and roadmap to growth given our current capabilities within the healthcare sector

8.       Identify future capabilities that the company will need to continue growing, given the trends in the sector

9.       Be an expert with respect to the, trends, influencers, and competition in the sector

10.    Analyze product profitability and sales success

11.    Conduct win/loss analysis

12.    Provide oversight of strategy, technical, operations, and marketing aspects of all products in the portfolio

-          Work with Product Development and Marketing Communications to develop the core positioning and messaging for products and solutions, sales tools and collateral

-          Work with Product Development, Sales and Sales Training to brief and train sales channel

-          Work with Product Development to create segment or channel specific versions of products and solutions, and to set pricing and gross margin targets

-          Interface with field sales organization including field and customer visits, to understand marketing support requirements and customer program needs

-          Work with supply chain, channel development, product development and external third parties to assess partnership opportunities

13.    Key participant in business strategy, operational planning, budgeting, and forecasting

14.    Act as a leader within the company

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Deep market knowledge in the healthcare industry, including in the material sciences arena & technology (such as labels & wristbands)

  • Understands business financials and has ability to develop complex business cases and pro formas
  • Knowledge of Standard Register Capabilities, Resources, Systems and the Wristband & Labels Market a plus
  • Understands Product Development process
  • Understands Marketing & Market Development Concepts
  • Able to lead and influence cross functional teams to achieve objectives
  •  

    Bachelor's degree and relevant experience (MBA preferred)

  • Business Leadership, Marketing, Product Development, and/or Sales experience desired
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
