Description

Position Objective:

The Mental Health Clinician and/or Community Support Individual (CSI) will provide psychotherapy/skill building services for child and adolescent mental health consumers and their families of mental health agency. This may take place in individual or group settings. This position may be part or full time and the role may be served in conjunction with another position.

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Provide individual counseling/skill building
  2. Provide group counseling/training, based on either an education/curriculum or process model.
  3. Provide family interventions. This may take the form of training or counseling/psychotherapy. Since there are issues of billing and provision of core services with this function, prior approval from Lead Clinician or Site Supervisor is required.
  4. Document contact notes, using a computer based reporting system, i.e. Athena.
  5. Actively participate in supervision with the Lead Clinician or Site Supervisor.
  6. Actively and timely responds to consumer crisis and supports crisis intervention efforts when BHL is called.
  7. Staff case with outside agencies as appropriate, i.e., KidsNet, LIPT, School, Court system.
Maintain a caseload size which will allow for quality services and which will also meet productivity targets.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Georgia Licensure as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Psychologist is preferred for counseling position OR candidates who are in pursuit of licensure.
  2. High School Diploma or Bachelors Degree in social work, psychology or mental health related field and  experience in working with mental health population for non-clinical positions.
  3. Knowledge of and practice by the ethical standards of their professional association, State Licensing Board and Georgia HOPE.
  4. Knowledge of and practice by the confidentiality standards of HIPAA regulations.
  5. Computer skills adequate for inputting session documentation, billing and scheduling.
  6. Capacity to function collegially and communicate within a Treatment Team.
Ability to process cases information and benefit from supervision to assure service is provided at the Clinician’s highest level of professional competency and improve professional knowledge and skills.
