Founded in 1989 with the opening of its initial store in Atlanta, Georgia, K&G Fashion Superstore is one of the fastest growing retailers in the country. By 1994, the Company had grown to 8 stores. In January 1996, K&G completed its first public offering and by 1997 had grown to 25 stores in 14 states. In June 1999, with 35 stores, K&G completed a merger with The Men’s Warehouse (MW). With the merger complete, K&G added 10 existing stores from The Men’s Warehouse division and was able to grow to 47 stores by the end of 1999. Today, K&G operates more than 90 stores in 30 states and plans to open additional stores on a regular basis.
Store Sales Management
Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for managing the overall operations of the store, including maximizing sales and profitability, developing staff, and controlling expenses, shortages and all aspects of merchandising and inventory.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the maintenance and day to day operations of the store
- Monitor and control store payroll, expense, and inventory
- Schedule store personnel to maximize coverage within budgeted guidelines and ensure that store hours are adhered to
- Monitor and ensure accuracy of time and attendance records for all employees in store
- Understand and ensure that the proper security procedures are followed for store openings and closings
- Plan and assign daily goals, tasks, and assignments for employees and ensure proper completion
- Ensure accuracy and expediency of store receiving process
- Maintain all merchandising standards, display presentations, signing standards, and monitor inventory control
- Ensure proper and timely deposit of all money received on the Company’s behalf and handle all company assets according to Company policies and procedures
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, neatness, and safety of the store
- Drive sales and increase store’s sales productivity
- Achieve and maintain acceptable profitability
- Practice shortage awareness and make sure all management is aware of shortage and overage problems
- Manage and control shrink within Company’s acceptable level
- Ensure store is properly prepared for inventories
- Ensure proper operation of the store tailor shop in accordance with Company Agreement
- Ensure customers receive outstanding customer service by creating a friendly environment, resolving customer service situations, and maintaining standards
- Contact local business organizations to seek out and find new business opportunities
- Update reference and training materials, memos, books, and Employee Handbook as directed
- Conduct weekly store meetings
- Recruit, train, and develop employees as well as assess performance on a regular basis
- Ensure that performance appraisals are completed and communicated in a timely manner
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are consistently upheld by employees
- Address employee concerns, administer discipline after review by regional managers, and recommend employee terminations
- Maintain and secure store personnel files
- Ensure store compliance with all state and federal employment postings requirements
- Understand and utilize reports provided by the company to maximize profitability of the store
- Ensure store recap issues are addressed and maintained to company standards
- Communicate and work with associates, customers, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner
- Attend required training classes as needed
- Assist with physical inventory counts
- Regularly communicate with Regional Manager on all store matters
- Notify the Asset Protection department or management of any suspected or observed dishonest activity
- Comply with workplace safety procedures
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
- Any other duties as assigned by management

Requirements for Store Management
Must successfully complete a background check.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or education/experience equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Prior retail sales experience required. Prior management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Strong customer service and sales skills. Strong organization, communication, and time management skills. Strong knowledge of Company products and services. Good computer skills and knowledge of store machines. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to move and handle merchandise generally weighing 0-50 pounds.
- May be required to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, and lift during the majority of work shift.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Required to use hands and fingers; handle or feel objects, or tools; and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities may be required for this job and include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as, depth perception.
- Ability to communicate clearly with associates and customers.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Ability to perform simple addition or subtraction or be able to perform these functions with the help of a calculator.
- Ability to learn, apply, and retain information.
