Data Center Network Engineer (US Citizen)

Description COMSYS is recruiting for their client in downtown Cincinnati for a Network Engineer to fulfill an operational support role in a data control center. Candidates for this role must be US citizens. Candidate must have recent work experience in a data center environment performing configuration, setup and design of LAN and WAN networks..

This contractor will:
Monitor, troubleshoot, and escalate production network incidents
Perform vendor interaction with internal and external support organizations
Participate in the on call rotation
Support production networks which may contain any of the following components Routers (Cisco, Nortel); Switches (Cisco); Hubs; VPN Devices (Cisco, Nortel, Checkpoint); Firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Nokia, Juniper); Load Balancers (F5, Cisco); Authentication Servers (RADIUS); DNS/DHCP Servers
Perform infrastructure management using the following tools (HP OpenView, Cisco Works, NetScout Manager, Alantec Powersight, BMC Patrol, SMS, Managewise, NetOp, Network General Sniffer)
Participate on project teams to effectively communicate the operational requirements to ensure effective project/technology transition
Respond to all requests from client team, end users, and account lead/DAC in a timely fashion
Respond to trouble tickets communicated via pager, phone call, or ticketing tool
Develop/maintain client documentation
Generate client-specific reports
Raise issues that affect client service delivery. Recommend resolution when possible.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Escalate issues as needed.
Assess minor network issues and report larger issues to appropriate network team and project lead
Build specialized technical skills

Requirements

Must Have Skills/Qualifications

(Type of work experience, skills, residency requirement, etc.)

7 years experience with DNS, NAT, OSPF, EiGRP and routing and switching as it relates to network engineering

5 years experience with Juniper, Netscreen and Cisco firewalls

5 years experience with Cisco enterprise class switches

5 years experience with GRE and IPSec VPN branch office tunnels

2 years experience with load balancers; F5 and ACE/Cisco load balancers

2 years experience with VRF based routing, firewall context management and virtualized networking

2 years experience with SSL certificate management as it relates to ACE / Cisco and F5 load balancers

2 years experience using network sniffer packages and be able to accurately analyze the output data

Able to read, understand and create Visio network diagrams

Experience with spanning tree

Experience with TCP/IP and other networking protocols - IPX, UDP, ICMP, SSH, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, BGP,

Excellent documentation skills

Able to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

Four year college degree or equivalent work experience
