Job Description 


Currently Protective Life is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant in its Birmingham, AL corporate headquarters. The Senior Tax Accountant will prepare corporate income tax returns and financial statement accruals, including necessary disclosures.



Responsibilities: 

 

  • Prepare and review tax provisions/accruals for quarterly and annual SEC and statutory filings.
  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns, including quarterly estimates.
  • Assist with IRS and state taxing authorities audits and inquiries.
  •  Tax planning and special projects as assigned.
  • Attend weekly meetings and occasional training courses.
 


Job Requirements 

 

  • Bachelors degree in accounting required, masters degree in taxation preferred.
  • CPA preferred. If not CPA, must be able to sit for CPA exam.
  • Three years of corporate income tax required. Financial reporting experience a plus. 
  • Must have proficiency with Excel spreadsheet software.
  • Experience with RIA’s InSource Express tax is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented with strong analytical abilities. 
  • Able to meet critical deadlines and handle several projects simultaneously without significant amount of supervision.
  • Able to learn new software systems quickly.
