Automation Engineer II - Southport, NC (Excellent relocation package included).
ADM Citric Acid Plant
This is an exempt level position.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Utilities and Engineering Manager, the Automation Engineer works as part of a team to support plant wide control systems, instrumentation, connectivity and information systems. An Engineer II must be proficient in all four of the technical competencies as listed in job requirements. The Engineer II will be expected to be involved in and help develop standards for all aspects of the plant control systems and information systems, to include authoring SOPs. 24/7 support of the plant is required.
Engineer II are required to have a 4 year technical degree in engineering or IT, and 5 – 10 years of experience in an industrial environment. All engineers must have a basic competency in office applications such as MS Office, and must be able to learn new systems with minimal individualized training. Must work with technicians as required to trouble shoot electrical and electronic systems to resolve problems encountered during operation and restore the system to an operational state. Proficiency in hardware and software is required. Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings, instrument indexes, vendor manuals, and computerized data archives. Must be able to operate CAD software and specialized computer interfaces as required for diagnosis and troubleshooting.
Engineers are required to work closely with plant users and provide good customer service. Must be able to climb stairs, some lifting, sit or stand for long periods, work at heights, bending, kneeling, and be able to be respirator qualified. Must be able to work in all environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, and dusty environment. Must be willing to undertake special assignments as directed.

The Engineer II should be proficient in all of the following technical competencies.
LAN/Office Automation Systems: Must be able to diagnose the source of PC-related problems to include hardware and software. Must be able to perform basic system administration. Must be able to diagnose network problems and solve both hardware and software issues. Must be able to help plant users with software application problems and enable them to get their problems resolved.
Control Systems Configuration and Support: The Engineer II must be able to trouble shoot control system problems and determine solutions to both hardware and software related problems. Must be able to configure systems and determine hardware and software requirements. Must be competent in both ABB Infi-90 and Allen Bradley software systems. Must be able to develop controls system configuration documents. Must understand and adhere to change control and good documentation practices standards.
Content Administration: The Engineer II must be able to operate and configure information system software. Must be fluent with software development methods and tools such as SQL. Systems supported include MS Access, PI Plant Historian, PLIMS historian, and CAD drawings. Must understand and adhere to change control and good documentation practices standards. Must stay current with developments in software engineering.
