Pathfinder Logistics, Inc. is a 3rd party logistics company operating as an international NVOCC, domestic freight forwarder and property broker. Pathfinder’s focus in the market is on engagements with customers where Pathfinder’s expertise in managing transportation networks across multiple modes brings value to its clients through reduced direct transportation costs and through greater efficiencies that lower overall supply chain costs. Pathfinder has experienced significant growth beginning in 2002 through a combination of internally generated new business and through the acquisition of two other businesses.
Are you a Pathfinder person?
Pathfinder remains the Smarter Partner because we retain the sharpest people.
Perhaps you?
Are you driven — fanatical even — about digging deeply into complex business challenges and helping your customers, co-workers and company succeed? If so, you very well may be the kind of best-of-breed professional we are looking for, and Pathfinder could be the perfect place for you.
With 20-plus years of proven success, Pathfinder Logistics is stable with a record of performance for our customers. We are proud to offer exceptional career opportunities for men and women dedicated to thinking smart, working hard and as part of a close-knit team, to having fun.
We are currently seeking a sales professional in both the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, CA markets. There is one opening in each market. Please do not apply if you are not already domiciled in one of these two areas.
Successful candidates will be responsible for developing new accounts in the base geographic area (San Francisco or L.A.) for all services provided by Pathfinder (LTL, TL IM, Ocean, Air) with a strong focus on developing international transportation accounts.
Position Requirements
Successful candidate will be responsible for developing meaningful new business in a realistic period of time (3/6/9/12/24 month goals to be established). This will require proven skills in sales and some experience in marketing. A demonstrated ability to set goals and meet objectives for new account development and profitable revenue production is critical to success. Another aspect of the sales development will be the ability to work with other Pathfinder account executives on a team basis to assist them as required in the capacity of “international expert" to help facilitate their efforts in developing new business. Currently, Pathfinder AE’s focus on customer attainment and the mix of transportation services provided is a function of the customer’s requirements and are mostly domestic.
Pathfinder’s customer base is made up primarily of small and mid-sized organizations with $50 million to $250 million in annual revenues. These companies tend to be sophisticated enough to recognize the value of a relationship with Pathfinder, but not so large as to be willing to spend on an internal logistics department. Typically within these organizations Pathfinder can interface with senior executives and develop long term relationships.
The ability to be flexible, creative and to take initiative to get things done will be important attributes for success.
Requirements
Candidate’s Background
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years experience in international transportation, preferably with experience working for both large and small NVOCC’s and/or direct ocean carriers. Experience should be in sales or business development. An entrepreneurial attitude is required since this is a “building" position, not a “caretaker" one. Pathfinder expects its employees to focus on the customer requirements and believes that delivering a high level of personal service to its customers is a key differentiator in the market. Senior management expects that its sales and support people work diligently to understand the business of our customers and that through that knowledge we gain a perspective that helps create greater value in the relationship. We focus on how we can, not why we can’t; but we must always remain honest in our assessment of the possible.
Our expectation is that our people are professional in all ways when dealing with our customers, their customers and suppliers, and our service providers. We expect the same between Pathfinder employees.
This is a demanding position that requires performance. To succeed you must be highly motivated, hard working, strategic in thinking and not afraid to make cold calls. Successful candidates will be expected to work in conjunction with management to formulate a market development plan that addresses corporate objectives for growth, profitability and customer retention. You must be organized and ultimately willing to take responsibility for your own success.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 5+ years industry experience (LTL, TL, NVOCC, Carrier) in a direct sales capacity
• Motivated to achieve and earn based on performance and business growth objectives
• Excellent communication, presentation and time management skills
• Proficient with basic Microsoft software packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Compensation:
Base salary transitioning to excellent commission plan; bonus for meeting or exceeding goals; company sponsored 401k; medical coverage; vacation and holiday pay.
