Junior Achievement (JA) is the bridge between education and business for our youth. Through in-classroom K—12th grade, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park programs, JA prepares youth with the skills, knowledge and attitudes for success in tomorrow's workplace.

 

Focusing on our three Pillars of Student Success:  Entrepreneurship, Work Readiness and Financial Literacy, we delivered business and economic programs to more than 95,000 youth this past year in Arizona.

 

Junior Achievement of Arizona is seeking an individual for our Development Director, Southern Arizona position.  In this role the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in generating revenue via submitting grants & proposals to local corporate or private foundations, solicitation of program support and/or special event sponsorships from local businesses, and assisting with fund-raising events. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

Generate revenue by researching, writing and submitting funding proposals to local grant making entities.

 

Create and implement strategies to generate revenue from local businesses by identifying industries and businesses with high potential for partnerships (including funding, classroom volunteers, and special event participation).

 

Assist with organizing and executing special events such as golf tournaments and bowl-a-thons to meet the established financial goals and ensure the events generate a positive image in the community.

 

Speak at prospective donor organizations e.g. Rotary, professional associations, and businesses; requires high level of comfort in a variety of social situations.

 

Research and evaluate new fund raising techniques to determine new effective methods for Junior Achievement.

 

Minimal amount of participation in program management including recruiting, training and tracking volunteer and educator participation.

Requirements

 

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

 

·         Proven success with multiple written grant submissions.

 

·         Proven success with corporate fundraising.

 

·         Strong volunteer recruitment and customer relationship management experience.

 

·         Detail orientation and high level of organization skills.

 

·         Ability to perform multi-level tasks in a fast-paced environment.

 

·         Strong marketing/persuasion skills.

 

·         Financial and business acumen; strong oral/written communication; collaborative skills.

 

·         Organizational/planning and manage time/tasks effectively and proficiently.

 

·         Project management skills.

 

·         Leadership skills and the ability to work well with others.

 

·         Strong computer literacy.

 

·         Five years experience in related field
