Position Summary for Fitness Specialist
To provide health and fitness awareness and education to HFC members, guests, and clients. To motivate the HFC population towards attaining their goals. To provide and ensure the highest quality service to HFC members in a friendly and professional manner.
Requirements
Position Responsibilities for Fitness Specialist
§ Provide fitness floor supervision by maintaining weekly floor coverage schedule while providing exercise instruction/assistance for all members and guests.
§ Maintain a safe working environment on the exercise floor for members and clients.
§ Maintain cleanliness of fitness areas and equipment, including inspection of equipment and upholstery requiring maintenance and/or repair.
§ Be able to perform all necessary tasks for opening and closing shifts on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
§ Conduct new member orientations and introductory personal training sessions for new members.
§ Review and screen all health history questionnaires and obtain physician clearance if needed.
§ Schedule appointments for fitness assessments and new member orientations.
§ Perform fitness assessments including cardiovascular, flexibility, and body composition measurements.
§ Deliver and explain fitness assessment results and provide exercise prescription and program recommendations to members. Discuss and make recommendations related to members’ individual goals utilizing baseline assessment data.
§ Develop exercise prescriptions for all members.
§ Create, implement and revise cardiovascular and strength programs for members.
§ Provide one-on-one instruction for fee-for-service clients.
§ Develop a safe and progressive exercise program based on pre-set goals and re-evaluate as necessary.
§ Teach correct technique and use proper spotting techniques.
§ Provide continued feedback and positive encouragement throughout the training session, keeping focus on the client.
§ Ensure the highest quality service to HFC members and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
§ Plan, market, implement and evaluate member incentive and fitness programs.
§ Provide fitness education lectures and workshops for members.
§ Contribute wherever needed to serve customers and meet the company’s goals.
Qualifications for Fitness Specialist
§ Bachelor degree in Exercise Science or related health/fitness field required.
§ CPR/AED certification required
§ Personal training certification within six months of hire date from any of the following: ACSM, NASM, NSCA
§ Ability to life 45-pound weight bar
