SQL Server 2005 Database Engineers

To $115K plus bonus

Rockville, MD

Premiere software engineering organization building complex database systems for the NIH seeks Sr SQL Server Database Engineer. Small engineering teams emphasize creative planning, design and implementation of innovative new technologies, provide exposure to the entire breadth of enterprise solutions in a dynamic environment and offer senior-level leadership opportunities. Challenges include establishing automated systems for processing huge volumes of primary and derived data, data mining, record linking, statistical analysis and building interactive Websites with business intelligence and decision support tools.

In this role, you will be responsible for the development, support and enhancement of a suite of interrelated SQL Server 2005 servers hosting a constellation of development, QA, and production databases, as well as development of new database architectures (with a focus on OLAP) to support and directly contribute to web applications that discover, present, and summarize synergies among the various data sources.     This role will support a variety of projects that provide metrics and integrated views of historic and current government-sponsored scientific research grants and contracts.


QUALIFICATIONS

·       Expertise with SQL Server 2005 T-SQL Scripting, Stored Procedures, Bulk Operations, Triggers,  Recovery Model, system views and Security

·       Expertise in Data Warehouse and OLAP architectures, query optimization and database performance tuning

·       Experience managing large-scale data ingest processes

·       Experience with Integration, Analysis, and Reporting Services or familiarity with C# and CLR Integration in SQL Server is a plus.

·       BS / MS in Computer Science or a related field

·       Ability to work as part of a small agile development team

·       Clearance a plus but not required.

·       Travel to and from client site may be involved (~5-30 miles radius from corporate HQ)
