Marketing Manager



For more than 50 years,  our client  has been one of America’s leading publisher of test preparation manuals and school directories. They publish more than 300 new titles a year and maintain an extensive backlist of well over 2,000 titles. Their books are instantly recognized for their variety, reliability, and quality by retailers, educational and institutional book buyers, and not least by the reading public everywhere.  They are currently seeking a Marketing Manager to help drive business through book retailers and other channels

The Marketing Manager will be reponsible for planning and supervising various marketing programs to ensure that company’s products and image is communicated effectively to all channels. You will plan creative and effective print/electronic/online marketing campaigns and manage the marketing budget to drive revenue and achieve income objectives.


JOB DUTIES
include the following:

  • Plan, schedule and budget direct mail pieces, including catalogs, brochures and flyers, and work with list brokers and mail houses to insure cost-effective and timely deliver
  • Plan, schedule and budget space advertising program for print and online media.
  • Plan, schedule and budget email marketing campaigns.
  • Plan and execute promotional campaigns for sales force supported by appropriate sales materials.
  • Plan, schedule and budget merchandising displays for in-store promotions.
  • Manage coop advertising program (sans B&N, BGI, and Amazon), insuring that coop is kept within budget and that the company uses coop funds to maximize exposure and leverage sales.
  • Assist Marketing Director with planning for BEA and other trade shows, including developing appropriate merchandising and sales materials.
  • Work with internal art department or outside agencies when necessary to optimize look and feel of direct mail, space advertising, email campaigns, display and coop advertising.
  • Manage the Marketing Assistant.

 

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent
  • Minimum of five years on the job marketing experience
  • Prior Marketing experience with a Book publisher is REQUIRED
  • Prior experience managing a small staff
  • Creative thinker with analytic skills and a thorough understanding of product brand and development who can develop marketing programs for various distribution channels
  • Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills; must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • A self-starter who is motivated, dependable, works well with others
  • Knowledge of sales promotions, trade shows, direct mail, consumer, trade, coop and online/email advertising, and in-store merchandising displays
  • Background in both print and online marketing; possess knowledge of major trade accounts

 

The compensation package includes a salary of $75K - $80K +  a bonus.  In addition the company offers Medical, Dental benefits and a  401K.
