Description The Field Claim Representative is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating and settling claim assignments involving multiple lines of insurance coverage except crop hail claims.  The incumbent must investigate the cause of the loss, interpret the policy, and determine whether the loss is covered and if Farm Bureau should pay the claim.  Incumbent also assists in training other claim personnel as requested.
Requirements
  • College degree or equivalent required plus at least 2 years multi-line field experience. 
  • Associate in Claims (AIC) or Senior Claims Law Associate (SCLA) designation required within 3 years. 
  • Maintain annual enrollment in continuing education courses such as CPCU or similar curriculum. 
  • Certificate in General Insurance and completion of 2 parts CPCU required within 2 years. 
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required. 
  • Must be willing and have the ability to teach and train individuals at or below own job level. 
  • Must be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions and fully appraise all physical aspects of the property and buildings. 
  • Some travel with overnight stays. 
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system, Lotus Notes, and CICS preferred. 
  • Ability to interpret policy coverages, investigate and evaluate claims, determine liability, appraise physical damage losses, settle bodily injury claims and adjust property losses up to level of authority. 
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
