The Medical Assistant assists physicians in examination and treatment of patients, and
performs clerical tasks related to administration of office
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patient.
Interviews patient and check pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height, drapes patient and position instruments and equipment.
Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
Collects and prepares specimens for shipment to medical laboratories and takes electrocardiograms.
Telephones prescriptions to pharmacy and authorizes refills as directed
Schedules appointments and arranges for hospital admission and laboratory services
Receives bill payment, completes insurance forms, maintains financial records
Records and files patient charts and medical records.
Provides administrative support as needed.
Graduate of an accredited school for medical assistants or equivalent experience
Licensed in state employed
Medical Assistant certification
High school graduate/GED
Successful completion of UDS Certification Course
Successful completion of Breath Alcohol Test Certification Course
Successful completion of Hair Collection Certification course.
JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
May require 6 months X-Ray experience directly related experience
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, file management and office procedures.
