Director of MSW Field Education

The School of Social Work seeks applications for the position of Director of MSW Field Education.   This is an academic professional position with a [0%] appointment as a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor.  This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs/MSW Program Director. This is a full-time 12‑month appointment.

 

This position is responsible for the overall administration of the MSW Field Education program.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Field Education Program
  • Provide leadership in curriculum development and student assessment related to Field Education
  • Work with the Associate Dean regarding the implementation of the Field Education Program and related policies/procedures
  • Monitor and evaluate assigned field placement sites, field instructors and student learning experiences and progress
  • Prepares and updates the MSW Field Education manual
  • Teaches Field Education seminars
  • Is responsible for all field-related materials related to accreditation
  • Recruits agencies and field instructors; designs and/or coordinates training of field instructors
  • This position requires extensive travel, mostly in Illinois.   

 

Candidates must possess a master’s degree in social work from an accredited School of Social Work, have completed at least 3 years’ post-MSW practice experience, and must be a Licensed Social Worker.  Prior experience in social work education on a university campus is highly preferred.  The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.  

 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.   This position will be available on December 7, 2009.
