Job Description

We have an Accounts Payable Manager position open in Phoenix, AZ.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Plans, schedules and directs work of the Accounts Payable department. Monitors records of amounts owed and ensures prompt payment of invoices featuring discounts advantageous to the organization. Reviews accounts payable register and other related accounting reports. Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounts payable department.


Principal Responsibilities :

  • Regularly supervises staff including responsibility for hiring, training, mentoring, developing, scheduling, directing, and managing performance and other related issues.  Accountable for performance of the team.
  • Attracts, hires, retains, organizes, develops, manages, recognizes, and rewards a motivated workforce capable of achieving short- and long-range business objectives within company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the integrity of Accounts Payables and output.
  • Oversees daily operations associated with payment services.
  • Sets objectives and goals for the Accounts Payable department to ensure goals and vision of the Company are being supported and aligned. 
  • Responsible for designing, establishing, and monitoring performance metrics of the Accounting team and each team member.
  • Manage all process, control and audit functions of the account payable department, ensuring all corporate policies, processes, and guidelines are followed.
  • Develops, implements and insures compliance with SOX controls and procedures.
  • Develops and implements all Accounts Payable department policies, procedures and controls.
  • Implements and executes operational plans that drive change, improving the quality and performance of the accounting department.
  • Monitors and improves department outcomes including error rates, customer service and efficiency.
  • Works closely with senior management and other departments to ensure high performance, continued improvement, consistency, collaboration and the implementation of best practices across all departments.
  • Reviews internal processes and provides solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.  Works with other department managers to determine root cause of process errors and redesigns processes for improvement.
  • Provides the management team with financial analytics to support sound and profitable business decisions.
  • Provides support for any internal and external audits as required
  • Participates in the development, implementation and execution of a division strategy.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Representative Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Accounts Payable Manager: 
  • The ability to professionally interact and influence the leadership team as well as staff and customers to effectively accomplish goals in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative to thoughtfully research and follow up on non-standard situations to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to effectively coach, mentor and train others to meet performance expectations as described above.
  • Must be able to work through others to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • The ability to establish processes and procedures to ensure effective department workflow is essential.
  • The ability to track, measure and manage performance is required.
  • Have MS Excel skills at an intermediate level.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team environment.
  • Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal direction from leadership.
  • An understanding of business unit operational functions and related needs and requirements and the ability identify issues, weigh options and provide effective counsel to support sound business decisions. 
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley 404, and compliance requirements of other financial statutes.
  • Knowledge of State and local statutory requirements that govern financial reporting and accounting.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 5 years of accounting experience with progressive upward movement, or ten years of accounting experience, including Accounts Payables.
  • Two years of supervisory or management experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA / MBA Preferred
  • 1099 or Multi state tax return experience
