General Manager
WinStar World Casino
Thackerville, Oklahoma

 

The General Manager plans, directs and oversees all operational activities, objectives and initiatives for WinStar World Casino and ensures integrity of operations. The work involves the independent and regular exercise of discretion and judgment regarding all facets of WWC operations.

Responsibilities/Tasks: Communicates operational performance and objectives to CNDC Management; prepares and presents periodic reports regarding profitability, budgetary issues, and problem resolution. Appraises and makes recommendations regarding operating results in terms of costs, budgets, operations, trends and increased profit opportunities. Ensures policies and procedures are followed. Ensures gaming operations are in compliance with applicable tribal, state and federal laws and ordinances and oversees the integrity of the gaming operations; oversees preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies. Performs other related duties as required.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Required:

  • Strong knowledge of casino operations
  • Skill in budget development
  • Skill in building and developing inter-governmental relationships
  • Knowledge of federal, state and tribal laws, ordinances, policies and guidelines
  • Knowledge of complex laws, regulations and guidelines governing casino gaming operations
  • Strong management and supervisory skills
  • Skill in reporting, group presentation and other communications skills; ability to effectively present information to the CEO and Governor
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret financial journals, reports, and related legal documents or instructions
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to remain composed; makes appropriate decisions under stressful conditions, which may involve dealing with a range of responsibilities, large sums of money and timetables
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships among departments
  • Able to handle stressful situations with both customers and employees
  • Ability to manage subordinate personnel in all their activities in order to ensure an overall effective and profitable operation for the property
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with others
  • Responsible for a high level of communications throughout the operation - must have excellent written and verbal communication skills


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field, MBA preferred (experience may be substituted for portion of education requirements)
  • Minimum of 10 years experience as general manager of mid-size gaming property
  • Excellent analytical, budgetary, managerial, and administrative skills
  • Superior customer service skills and employee relations
  • Working knowledge of casino marketing functions to include sales, promotions, advertising, and public relations
  • Strong supervisory/leadership abilities
