Position Overview:
The Enterprise Information Architect (EIA) will coordinate the movement, enhancement, integration, quality and availability of data throughout the HMS enterprise. The EIA will work closely with the business so that the architecture is aligned with and capable of supporting the business strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:
Data Strategy
- Define enterprise data architecture vision, strategy, principles and standards; get buy-in from stake-holders, management, business partners, and propagate throughout the company.
- Provide framework, stewardship, governance and decision making for management of data for project development teams, business users and other stake-holders.
- Deliver a road map to achieve the vision
- Define enterprise data architecture vision, strategy, principles and standards; get buy-in from stake-holders, management, business partners, and propagate throughout the company.
Standards/Processes/Tools
- Develop enterprise data management methodology and standards, and promote to both technology and business throughout the company.
- Over time, create appropriate standards, processes and tools to promote and facilitate:
- Mapping of data sources
- Documenting interfaces and data movement
- Designing the movement of data through the enterprise:
- Defining integrative views of data especially for analytic purposes
- Focus on data quality:
- Put in place governance processes around meta-data to ensure an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure the accuracy, validity, and reusability of meta-data.
- Participate in developing consistent definitions for common reference data.
- Establish measures to chart progress related to completeness and quality of meta-data for enterprise information, to support reduction of data redundancy and fragmentation, elimination of unnecessary movement of data, and improvement of data quality.
- Provide input on large-scale projects and road maps for compatibility with the vision.
- Drive selection of data management tools, and the development of standards, usage guidelines and procedures for those tools.
- Define the process to resolve cross-organizational data management issues.
- Develop and maintain data interoperability standards and interfaces
- Develop processes for data migration and integration between systems and develop a strategy classify data for its most effective and efficient use.
- Create processes for Data Life Cycle management and develop data management strategy and process around data governance, custody, stewardship and security
- Specify data validation, verification and reconciliation strategies
- Define processes for Data Virtualization, using Service-oriented technologies
- Develop enterprise data management methodology and standards, and promote to both technology and business throughout the company.
Project Support
- Provide consulting support for the roll-out of meta-data management processes and tools.
- Define meta-data checklists and requirements to be met at the project level and to be included in project plans.
- Management of the relationship with project teams using / implementing meta-data management processes.
- Provide support on use of common enterprise information models and promote their use and enhancement by new projects
- BSCS or MS Degree or concentration in a technical field
- 15+ years architecting enterprise solutions and data intensive solutions
- Solid understanding and knowledge around leading edge technologies like SOA, SaaS, Cloud computing, DWH/ BI, MDM, Portals, ESB, BPM solutions
- Strong leadership skills including resource management, project estimation, process improvement and project management tools
- 15+ years experienced working with IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects, SAS BI, Oracle BI suite
- Proven track record in implementing enterprise meta-data management processes and tools and for managing meta-data for decision-support and operational systems
- Familiarity with meta-data management tools enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools and data profiling tools
- Experience with the complete information system life cycle
- Familiarity and experience with activities in support of the enterprise application architecture
- Familiarity with physical and logical data modeling techniques and responsible for development of a data strategy and associated polices
