Overall, this contract position is responsible for daily operations in compound logistics labs.
Contractor performs compound logistics operations required to support drug discovery pre-programs and Library Production Projects. Main activity will be to utilize automated systems and software to fulfill requests for research compound samples to scientists locally and at remote research sites. In addition, the Contractor will be responsible for processing and shipping of research compound samples to remote sites and for processing, registering and archiving compound samples from combinatorial libraries and purified compound arrays. Reassembly of groups of compounds and custom screening sets may also be within the Contractors responsibilities.
Operation and maintenance of robotics and systems, within the group, data processing and entry and periodic reporting will also be performed. The Contractor will also be required to interface with scientists and teams for pre-Programs and library production projects. Troubleshooting of equipment problems, data issues, and resolution of compound logistics problems is expected.
Overall, this contract position is responsible for daily operations in compound logistics labs. This includes scanning incoming and outgoing compound containers, weighing and dissolving compounds, preparing multiple storage and screening plates, splitting compounds using liquid handler instrument, shipping compounds to other sites and locally to projects.
Other activities include operating our unique Nexus Unistore compound storage and TekCel storage for compound retrieval, preparation of data files in MS Excel and importing & exporting compound data from/to various databases. These activities must be performed in an independent manner with minimal daily oversight after initial training. Daily communication with compound manager supervisor is expected. Position reports to the Compound Logistics manager.
B.S degree in life sciences such as Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or related disciplines.
Strong abilities in basic computer skills and data entry with a high level of skill in Excel and text editor. Ability to learn and operate sophisticated and complex scientific software is a plus. Familiarity with databases, entry and access of data as well as manipulation of common data formats would be highly valued. Technical understanding and familiarity with automated systems and robotics or a trainable technical capacity are required. Organizational skills and the ability to maintain concentration on tasks is essential.
Additional training in computer sciences or robotics systems would be valued. English fluency is required. Experience in an organized and structured work environment is preferred but not required. Some experience in a scientific research environment would also be useful.
