Job Description 

Directly responsible to the Program Manager/Area Director for the immediate support, education, and supervision of the persons served.

 

  • Provides supports to people served by implementing Individualized Support Plans to assist people in achieving their personal goals and to meet their needs and desires.

     

  • Maintains supports of the people served by providing choices for activities, and work.

     

  • Assists people served in completion of activities of daily living, including job skills, toileting, grooming, dressing, eating, medication administration, bathing and transportation as needed.

     

  • Completes required documentation and assists with information gathering for Personal Outcome Measures and assessments.

     

  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for people served by following safety and infection control procedures.

     

  • Attends scheduled staff meetings and required training sessions.

     

  • Participates in the DSP on-call rotation.

 

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 


Job Requirements 

High school graduate or equivalent.  Valid Driver's License and good driving record as defined by Bethesda.   Able to complete Direct Support Person Certification.   Able to complete necessary training.   Able to pass the literacy component of the Test for Adult Basic Education.  Ability to complete two-person lifts and transfers of people served over 100 pounds. Ability to stand for long periods and tolerate repetitive bending and twisting.  Interest in assisting people served to achieve Personal Outcomes and to provide person centered supports. Good verbal and written skills; ability and willingness to successfully complete the inservice training courses. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others; displays cooperative attitude toward other disciplines; interest in the persons supported welfare, including training and interest in the field of developmental disabilities.
