Excellent opportunity for an experienced public equities investment manager who has experience managing outside asset managers and is looking for a change from Wall Street.

 

Investment Manager, Public Equities

 

Reporting to the Director of Public Equities, this moderately supervised position’s purpose is to execute and administer the organization’s $5 billion domestic, international, and emerging public equities investment program as directed by the organization’s Investment Strategy Statement and Statement of Administrative Investment Policy, Guidelines, and Restrictions. The position requires the ability to add value to the organization’s investment program through management of financial risk/return through structuring equity portfolios, selecting and monitoring investment managers. Additionally, the Manager, Public Equities is responsible for analyzing and reporting regarding the risk and performance for the organization’s investment funds. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Continuously monitor, develop and implement public equity strategies.
  • Maintain relationship management responsibility with asset managers and review all communications from managers with a focus on improving the quality of the manager reporting process.
  • Manage the financial reporting process for public equities investments.
  • Monitor financial market developments and provide periodic updates to departmental management regarding the impact on public equities markets.

  • Develop appropriate risk management strategies for the General Board’s equity funds.

  • Recommend investment guideline changes to enhance returns and manage risks.

  • Provide backup support to the Director of Equities on the Board’s alternatives investment program.

  • Share responsibility for mentoring investment analysts supporting public equities analytics.

  • Research and prepare public equities reports and recommendations for senior investment management to present at the board of directors’ Fiduciary committee and to other internal and external stakeholders.

  • Communicate and assist other departments in responding to participant inquiries regarding the organization’s funds.

  • Participates on cross-functional organizational project planning teams.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong understanding of investment analysis tools and public equities markets.
  • Ability to deliver finished work products with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Strong communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of PC applications, particularly Excel.

 

Preferred qualifications are:

 

  • CFA or CFA candidate .
  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching junior members of the department.
