BUSINESS UNIT GROUP LEADER

Augusta, Georgia 

 

Specialized Packaging Group currently has an employment opportunity for a Business Unit Group Leader to oversee the start-up and daily operations of our Augusta, Georgia (POD) manufacturing facility. Initially, this role will be responsible for working with and building solid relationships with our customers. Subsequently, this role will be responsible for coordinating and leading the SPG Team and/or vendors and suppliers in the successful start-up of the Product on Demand (POD) Site in Augusta, Ga. Upon establishing the POD, this position will provide operations and HR management oversight in Augusta, Ga. This position will be located in Augusta, Georgia and will report to Specialized Packaging Group Radisson, Managing Director.

 

Primary Duties:

·         Acts as Project lead for Augusta site start-up. Work with Radisson Management Team and outside vendors/suppliers to establish “A" List resources, including but not limited to Personnel, Equipment and Supplies. 

·         Will provide oversight, direction and daily guidance for improvement initiatives, operational procedures and Team development in the newly established August Manufacturing site. 

·         Will work with customer planners and schedulers to project accurate forecast for SPR and Augusta POD.

·         Review Customer’s Process Reliability Loss and MTBF data weekly with internal Manufacturing Team and develop corrective action plan.

·         Interact daily with customers and suppliers from multiple sites (Augusta, Ga. and Alexandria, La.) to ensure quality specifications are met.

·         Manage, understand, and interpret specification requirements on behalf of customer’s product.

·         Communicates quality and delivery issues/concerns in a timely manner.

·         Supply support service and feedback to customers related to quality and product performance.

·         Support CQV trialing process for all new products, process changes and new materials.

·         Provides support to SPR’s internal Customer Response Associates including scheduling, weekly forecast and run quantities.

·         Prepare and circulate status reports for current projects to appropriate Team members.

·         Determine pass/fail status and production analysis on quality for outgoing finished product and incoming raw materials.

Requirements

Qualifications Required:

·     A 4-year Degree in Management, Packaging or Industrial Engineering from an accredited College or University is preferred. Equitable work experience will also be considered.

·         A minimum of 5 years progressive experience within the Folding Carton Converting and Printing Industry. Understanding of Gravure and/or Flexo Printing and Finishing/Gluing processes would be an asset.

·         Proven project management skills. Ability to set deadlines and budget limits and measure progress against set benchmarks. Experience bringing a project to a close on time and under budget.

·         Production scheduling and Financial Controls are a must.

·         Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills with a focus on Customer needs and expectations

·         Understanding of quality tests, CQV process control, quality issues & estimating processes in a manufacturing environment

·         Understanding of basic SPC techniques and tools is preferred.

·         Proven experience managing people with a focus on Safety and driving safety to “0" recordable or lost time accidents. 

·         Good organizational, analytical and problem solving skills

·         Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

·         Strong computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

·         Good interpersonal skills/team player

·         Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
