Job Description 


Our client produces high quality food products.  This position is Engineering Manager at one of their key production facilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  

  • Directs department activities to maintain and upgrade facility. Ensures preventive maintenance program is clearly defined and administered.

  • Manages a department of 35+ hourly and salaried employees in a unionized environment.
  • Analyzes trends, staffing and market demand to plan projects and create solutions.
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.

Job Requirements 

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering degree

  • 5-10 years prior work experience in a heavy manufacturing/industrial environment in engineering or maintenance, preferably in the food manufacturing sector.

  • 3-6 years prior experience as a maintenance manager.

  • Prior supervisory experience leading a team of 10-50 associates.

  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP/Inventory systems, SAP preferred.

  • Experience managing capital improvement projects from small to large scale.

  • Experience with MS Project

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Excellent presentation skills
