Director of Health Information Management

Responsibilities:

In this highly visible role you will oversee the Health Information Management operations for Tisch Hospital, Rusk Institute and various outpatient areas. Duties include planning, organizing and directing all activities of the Health Information Management Department; developing and evaluating Health Information Management systems; ensuring departmental and hospital compliance with all standards of JCAHO and federal, state and local regulations; and maintaining regular contact with the Legal Department on issues relating to regulatory requirements and litigation. You will also be in charge of reviewing departmental performance, determining optimum staffing, overseeing staff supervision and the performance appraisal process, and establishing work standards and flow to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations.

Additional responsibilities include overseeing the preparation of capital and operating budgets; monitoring spending throughout the year; comparing actual spending to budgeted amounts in order to explain variances; and projecting expected revenue based on departmental operations and activities.
