Job Description 

This position is located in Madison, WI.

 

The UHC Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Director is responsible for the development, operation, maintenance, and deployment of UW Health's analytical data repositories, and has management responsibility for all UW Health Information Management Center (UWHIMC) personnel. 

The position requires effective collaboration with business and technical management staff to define and communicate a vision, strategy and roadmap for developing the future enterprise data warehouse (EDW) while maintaining UW Health's existing data repositories.  Significant interaction with UW Health executive leadership is required to ensure the EDW supports the strategic goals of each organization.

The EIM Director manages staff in compliance with UW Health's enterprise goals, strives to meet or exceed client expectations, fosters a culture of quality and promotes the Employer of Choice ethic.  The incumbent serves as a mentor/coach for UWHIMC staff in the development of business analysis skills, database design techniques, extract/transform/load (ETL) programming skills and project management methodologies.

 


Job Requirements 

1. BS in Computer Science or Information Systems required.
2. MS in Computer Science or Information Systems, or MBA preferred.
3. 5 years of business intelligence and data warehousing project management experience in a health care environment required.
4. 10 years of IT experience required.
5. 10 years of business intelligence and data warehousing project management experience in a health care environment preferred.
6. 20 years of IT experience preferred.
7. Effective relationship management and ability to influence key decision makers
8. Strong project management skills; experience in organizing, planning, and executing concurrent data warehouse and business intelligence projects from vision through implementation; ability to analyze project needs and determine the resources needed to meet objectives
9. Proven experience and strong understanding of relational and dimensional data architectures and data modeling principles
10. Experience delivering solutions using established relational database technologies such as Oracle, IBM DB2/UDB, and MS SQL Server
11. Experience with one or more of the following ETL tools: Oracle Warehouse Builder, Business Objects Data Integrator, Informatica Powercenter, IBM DataStage and Ab Initio.
12. Experience with one or more of the following BI/Enterprise Reporting tools: Business Objects, Cognos, Brio, Microstrategy, SAS.
13. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
14. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to develop and deliver effective, executive-level presentations
15. Demonstrated ability to promote the development of self-service capabilities for the business in the reporting and analysis of business information preferred.
16. Prior experience implementing data governance solutions, including data ownership and data stewardship roles and responsibilities as well as the selection and implementation of data profiling and data cleansing tools preferred.
17. Solid understanding of metadata management solutions such as Rochade or Informatica Metadata Manager preferred.
18. Solid understanding the following (preferred):
A. Best practices in data warehousing and business intelligence solutions
B. Master data, transaction data and analytic data concepts
C. Server and SAN capacity planning and administration
19. Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.  Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
