Tegrant Corporation – Thermosafe Brands, a premier manufacturer of a variety of highly engineered thermal packaging solutions has the following Lead Design Engineer position available in our Montgomeryville, PA location.
Role Overview
· Lead a team of engineers in the planning, design, development, and organizing of medium to high scale, medium to high complexity engineering projects associated with the ThermoSafe product line
· The projects may include, but are not limited to product design, product specifications, cost estimating, tooling, prototyping, engineering processes, and product quality
· Utilize FEA and CFD software to develop thermal simulation for design analysis
· Review design and document criteria to ensure it meets project specifications and Tegrant engineering standards through the use of design and product development best practices
· Work with cross functional teams including individuals from sales, manufacturing, marketing, procurement, quality, and the design lab to ensure success of projects
· Monitors work flow and sets priorities for design team and serves as a technical resource
· Works closely with manufacturing to ensure that designs can be manufactured and cost estimates are accurate
· Writes and maintains accurate, up-to-date files for all product specifications
· Provide necessary technical support to manufacturing locations
· Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
· Education/Experience: BS in mechanical or materials science engineering or a related technical field plus 5-7 yrs of experience required. Experience in engineering analysis, mathematical modeling, and heat transfer is highly desired.
· Language Ability: Excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills; Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.
· Reasoning Ability: Good interpersonal communication, organization & keyboarding skills, required. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Strong capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity and providing creative solutions.
· Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge and use of Microsoft Project, Excel, Access and MS Word. Proficiency in application of CAD and FEA/CFD computer application programs, required.
· Other: Demonstrated ability to multitask in a very fast paced environment and to prioritize and manage multiple projects with minimal direction. Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with a broad range of individuals across functions, up to the Executive level. Ability to read drawings and specifications and reverse engineer components.
